Villa of Ministers 2025: When the evenings of the Cannes festival make festive politics!
On pourrait croire, au nom de « Villa des Ministres », qu’il s’agit d’une annexe estivale du gouvernement pour ministres surmenés cherchant une excuse pour allonger leur pause déjeuner. Mais détrompez-vous : ici, la seule crise à gérer est celle de choisir entre un cocktail Caïpirinha ou un Limoncello bien frais. Pour sa troisième édition, la Villa des Ministres s’est installée à quelques pas du Palais des Festivals dans un écrin verdoyant de 2 500 m². Du 14 au 21 mai 2025, pas moins de 16 événements exclusifs y ont rythmé les journées et illuminé les nuits du 78e Festival de Cannes. Sous l’impulsion d’Yves de Roquemaurel et Elena Sokhoshko, ce lieu est devenu un incontournable, entre rencontres professionnelles pointues et fêtes mémorables. Au programme, un tour du monde festif du cinéma : Les festivités ont débuté le 14 mai avec la Condor Distribution Grill & Pool Party, lançant idéalement cette semaine riche en événements. Afro Cannes a suivi du 15 au 19 mai avec des conférences et tables rondes sur le cinéma, accueillant notamment Aaron Thomas (créateur de la série S.W.A.T.), Frédéric Chau et Wendell Pierce (The Wire, Suits). La soirée du Glasgow International Film Festival, en présence de Martin Petrov, fondateur de l’événement, a également marqué les esprits par son atmosphère chaleureuse et internationale. The Dardenne brothers awarded the Prix du Cinéma Positive in Cannes for « Young mothers »
Ce vendredi 23 mai à 13h, sur la plage du CNC à Cannes, les réalisateurs Jean-Pierre et Luc Dardenne ont reçu le Prix du Cinéma Positif 2025 pour leur dernier film Jeunes Mères, une œuvre poignante et engagée saluée pour son humanisme et sa portée sociale. Le prix (le deuxième pour les frères Dardenne après celui reçu en 2022 pour Tori et Lokita), qui récompense le long métrage le plus positif parmi tous ceux en compétition officielle au Festival de Cannes, leur a été remis par les parrains de cette édition, Aïssa Maïga, actrice et réalisatrice engagée, et Jimmy Jean-Louis, acteur international, tous deux fervents défenseurs d’un cinéma porteur de sens et d’impact. La cérémonie s’est tenue dans une atmosphère inspirante, en présence de Sam Bobino, directeur de la Semaine du Cinéma Positif, Rosalie Mann, présidente de l’association No More Plastic, Dolores Chaplin, actrice et réalisatrice, ainsi que Alexandra Cousteau, cinéaste et exploratrice et Estelle Lefébure, actrice et présidente de l’association Spero Mar. Jeunes Mères (produit par Les Films du Fleuve, la société du duo de réalisateurs, en coproduction avec Archipel 35/Archipel 33) s’inscrit dans la continuité du travail des frères Dardenne, en mettant en lumière avec une rare justesse les défis et la force des femmes dans la maternité précoce. Leur regard sensible et profondément humain sur la société trouve une nouvelle fois un écho puissant, et ce prix vient saluer non seulement leur œuvre, mais aussi leur engagement constant en faveur d’un cinéma porteur d’espoir et de transformation. Last Night in Cannes 17 May – Cannes Film Festival 2025
The 17th of May in Cannes was a night of contrasts: from the cinema engaged to the confidential festival, to the most surprising projects of the Quinzaine. A dense evening, under the sign of sharing, reflection and creative energy. Projection of « Orwell 2 + 2 = 5 » Raoul Peck – Intimistic, deep, necessary I had the honour of attending the screening of Raoul Peck's new film, Orwell 2 + 2 = 5, distributed by The Pact. This incisive documentary focuses on the last days of George Orwell, to better draw the contours of a contemporary society under surveillance, conditioned by new languages and power structures. A work that is both sober and fulgurating, and a dreadful news. The evening that followed was like the film: in a small committee, in a discreet and professional setting. A privileged moment of reunion, discussions, where the film team was present. I had the joy of finding a friend actor Eriq Ebouaney, a faithful supporter of the engaged cinema, as well as the great photographer Kriss Dewitte, whose black and white photographs capture with rare sensitivity moments of truth. Japan Night : élégance nippone et avant-premières Japan Night : élégance nippone et avant-premièresHier soir, le Japon était à l’honneur lors d’une réception scintillante, rassemblant professionnels du cinéma, producteurs et passionnés sur la Croisette. L’événement, qui s’est tenu à partir de 19h, a mis en avant la vitalité du cinéma japonais, avec la présence de plusieurs productions sélectionnées cette année au Festival : Renoir de Chie Hayakawa, en compétition officielle, un drame sensible sur la résilience d’une fillette face à la maladie de son père à Tokyo. A Pale View of Hills de Kei Ishikawa, sélectionné à Un Certain Regard, qui explore les souvenirs d’une veuve japonaise entre Nagasaki et l’Angleterre. Exit 8 de Genki Kawamura, présenté en séances de minuit, adaptation d’un jeu vidéo à succès, où un homme tente d’échapper à un couloir de métro sans fin. La Japan Night a favorisé le networking autour de ces œuvres et d’autres projets, dans une ambiance raffinée où la gastronomie nippone – sushis délicats, saké pétillant ( Sake Hundred ) – a ravi les convives. J’ai eu le plaisir de rencontrer un jeune réalisateur français Victor Boccard, parfaitement bilingue, qui nourrit le projet ambitieux de tourner son prochain film au Japon. Même s’il n’a pas pitché officiellement durant la soirée, nos échanges ont révélé sa passion pour la culture japonaise et son expérience déjà riche dans la réalisation de clips publicitaires. Espérons que les rencontres de cette Japan Night lui ouvriront de nouvelles perspectives. Ambiance kawaii garantie : le photocall a vu certains invités s’amuser avec des accessoires, créant des scènes aussi mignonnes qu’inattendues, à la japonaise. Plage Magnum : la dernière, mais pas des moindres ! La Plage Magnum reste un incontournable des nuits cannoises. Hier soir, elle a accueilli deux projections exclusives : – La Petite Dernière (AD VITAM) – L’Inconnu de la Grande Arche (Le Pacte). La soirée a pris des allures de dancefloor géant, animée par plusieurs DJ jusqu’à 2h du matin. Clin d’œil du calendrier : cette “petite dernière” n’était pas seulement le titre du film à l’affiche, mais aussi la dernière grande fête Magnum de cette édition 2025, qui aura une fois de plus su conjuguer festivité et gourmandise avec brio. Villa Montana : le chic festif signé Le Baron La Villa Montana, perchée au 47 chemin des Collines, s’est imposée cette nuit comme le repaire des oiseaux de nuit, grâce à une soirée orchestrée par l’équipe du Baron. Ce lieu confidentiel, avec sa piscine et sa vue sur la baie de Cannes, offre un cadre exclusif et raffiné, parfait pour les afterparties jusqu’au petit matin. Espace à compléter : noms des DJ à ajouter ici. Par exemple, la programmation récente a vu passer Honey Dijon, Rammö, Sudre & Sami Daik, Niddy. Un écrin parfait pour vivre la fête à la cannoise, où chaque soirée réserve son lot de surprises et de rencontres. Le Silencio : l’ultime escale nocturne Après la plage, direction Le Silencio, à deux pas des marches du Palais. Ce club éphémère, véritable épicentre des nuits cannoises, a une nouvelle fois réuni les festivaliers sur son dancefloor, porté par une programmation musicale éclectique et prestigieuse. Mention spéciale pour la terrasse panoramique, qui offre une vue imprenable sur le port de Cannes : l’endroit idéal pour surveiller son yacht ou simplement s’émerveiller devant la magie nocturne de la Croisette. Et bien plus encore…La nuit cannoise ne s’arrête jamais : plage Vega by Cartel, soirées de la Quinzaine des Réalisateurs, Campari Party (toujours à la recherche du contact, même en italien ! ) Ma a quanto pare, anche se approvato amichevolmente da qualcuno che gestisce la lista per raggiungere degli amici… alcuni alla sicurezza preferiscono comunque bloccare — a meno che non scivoli un biglietto non proprio leggero.
