At the initiative of the actor Eriq Ebouaney, three photographers known for their work around the cinema, Kris Dewitte, Stéphane Kossmann and Marcelo Nlele, bring together their eyes for the first time within the same exhibition.
From Cannes to Deauville, festivals don't just show movies. They are also meeting places, where images and memories are made that sometimes accompany cinema well beyond the dark rooms.
It is in this spirit that the « VIEWS THE CINEMA », presented at the Un Rêve Éveillé gallery in Deauville.
At the origin of the project, Eriq Ebouaney. The actor wanted to bring together three photographers whose journeys have regularly crossed that of cinema: Kris Dewitte, Stéphane Kossmann and Marcelo Nlele.
Everyone has his or her eyes, his or her journey and his or her way of photographing those who make films.
Three eyes on the cinema
For many years, Kris Dewitte photography actors, actresses and filmmakers. His work has inter alia crossed David Lynch, John Malkovich, Charlotte Rampling, Steve Buscemi, Agnes Varda or Philippe Noiret.
Stéphane Kossmann He also has a close relationship with the major events in cinema. Over the years, his objective has captured personalities like Robert De Niro, Brad Pitt, Morgan Freeman, Javier Bardem, Keanu Reeves, Meryl Streep, Natalie Portman or Viola Davis.
Marcelo Nlele completes this encounter with another approach to the portrait. Among the personalities who have gone before his objective are: Francis Ford Coppola, Spike Lee, Angelina Jolie, Antonio Banderas, John Travolta or Euzhan Palcy.
But « VIEWS THE CINEMA » is not simply a succession of famous personalities. Each photograph also corresponds to a particular moment: an expression, an attitude, sometimes a few seconds during which the photographer must grasp something that will not happen again. The cinema is made of movement. The photograph keeps for a moment.
« Cinema creates memories. Photography gives them a face. »
A phrase that sums up quite accurately the spirit of the exhibition.

From Cannes to Deauville
Presenting this exhibition during the Deauville Festival obviously did nothing to be annoid. A few months after Cannes, Deauville became a meeting point for films, artists, professionals and the public.
For The Cannes Blog, speaking of this exhibition is therefore also a way of prolonging this link between festivals and those who make cinema live. Many of the personalities photographed have gone through various festivals, including Cannes and Deauville. Behind official images, red carpets and photocalls, photographers offer another look, often much more personal.
A first exhibition to travel?
The meeting of Kris Dewitte, Stéphane Kossmann and Marcelo Nlele around the same exhibition is a first. Three photographers gathered around the cinema under the impulse of Eriq Ebouaney, who knows himself, as an actor, the sets, the festivals and this universe usually seen on the other side of the lens.
First presented in Deauville, « VIEWS THE CINEMA » It may not be that way.
The idea is also to be able to travel the exhibition. Paris could naturally be a next step, before, why not, other cities and other events dedicated to cinema.
