BLOG OF CANNES 2026 #FESTIVALS

On the occasion of the Deauville Festival, the gallery Un Rêve Éveillé hosts, from September 3 to 13, 2026, the exhibition « VIEWS THE CINEMA ». At the initiative of actor Eriq Ebouaney, three photographers known for their work around the cinema, Kris Dewitte, Stéphane Kossmann and Marcelo Nlele, gather their eyes in the same exhibition for the first time. From Cannes to Deauville, festivals don't just show movies. They are also meeting places, where images and memories are made that sometimes accompany cinema well beyond the dark rooms. It is in this spirit that the « VIEWS THE CINEMA », presented at the Un Rêve Éveillé gallery in Deauville. At the origin of the project, Eriq Ebouaney. I’LL BE GONE IN JUNE – Katharina Rivilis Autre premier film passé par Un Certain Regard à Cannes 2026, I’ll Be Gone in June de Katharina Rivilis sera également en compétition à Deauville. While some addresses are already essential, others create surprise by offering a different, more intimate and exchangeable atmosphere. Among the great discoveries of this 79th edition of the Cannes Film Festival, Blog de Cannes had the pleasure of discovering the Maison de Pompadour, an elegant setting with a floral spirit that hosted several private events throughout the fortnight. Designed as a real reception place dedicated to film and creative professionals, this space quickly found its place among the most popular events of the festival. An evening around the film If you think of Géraldine Nakache We had the pleasure of attending the evening organized on the occasion of the preview of the film If you think so, directed by Géraldine Nakache. Presented in the Cannes Première selection of the Cannes 2026 Festival, this Franco-Belgian feature film brought together part of his team before prolonging the festivities at the Maison de Pompadour in a particularly warm and festive atmosphere. Around Géraldine Nakache included Niels Schneider, Monia Chokri and Clémentine Célarié, who came to share this moment with their partners, guests of the Festival and many film professionals. Far from the hustle and bustle of the Croisette, the villa offered an elegant setting where everyone could easily exchange, between landscaped garden, floral decoration and garden furniture.

This Friday, May 22, on the CNC beach in Cannes, as part of the Positive Cinema Week, Belgian director Lukas Dhont received the Positive Cinema Award 2026 for his new feature film Coward, presented in Official Competition at the 79th Cannes International Film Festival. The prize was presented to him by Jacques Attali, founding President of Positive Cinema Week, and Estelle Lefébure, patron of this 11th edition, also in the presence of Sam Bobino, co-founder and managing director of Positive Cinema Week. Awarded each year to a film work with a humanist look at the world and helping to change consciousness through the values of transmission, inclusion, resilience or commitment, the Prize for Positive Cinema distinguishes a cinema capable of inspiring change while celebrating the strength of emotion and narrative. With Coward, Lukas Dhont delivers a deeply sensitive and deeply human film that questions the notions of masculinity, courage and freedom in the brutal context of the First World War. Through the story of two young soldiers seeking to preserve their humanity, their sensitivity and their ability to love at the heart of chaos, the director proposes a luminous work on fraternity, tolerance and intimate resistance to violence and thus opposes art and love to horror and barbarity. Already rewarded in Cannes for Girl (2018 Positive Cinema Award), then Close, Lukas Dhont confirms with Coward the singularity of a committed, delicate and universal work
