In Cannes, the cinema looks as much as it listens. For its 16th edition, the Prix Cannes Soundtrack 2026under the signature "When Cinema Meets Music"this year, awarded two works ex æquo, welcoming the essential role of music in cinematographic emotion.
The Prix Cannes Soundtrack 2026 was awarded by the jury press to Amarga Navidadby Pedro Almodovar, whose music is composed by Alberto Iglesias, and Minotaurby Andrey Zvyaguintsev, with music composed by Evgueni Galperine and Sacha Galperine.
The Golden Disc on Magnum Beach
The Cannes Soundtrack Award gold record was handed over this Friday 22 May 2026 on the beach Magnum to Régine Vial, Director General of Films du Losange and Film Producer Minotaur. The discount was made by Vincent Doerr, General Delegate of Cannes Soundtrack.
Copies of the gold records are also given to award-winning directors and composers: Andrey Zvyaguintsev, Pedro Almodovar, Alberto Iglesias, andEvgueni and Sacha Galperine.A prize won by a jury of journalists
Every year, Cannes Soundtrack highlights the strength of film music through a jury of French and international film journalists. For this edition of 2026, the jury press gathered Yannick Vély of the Paris Match, Caroline Vié of the 20 Minutes, Eve Jackson of the France 24, Carlos Gomez of the Gala, Nicolas Schaller of the Obs, Philippe Rouyer of the Positive, Theo Ribeton of the Inrocksor Rafael Wolf of the RTS.
Cannes Soundtrack also thanks its partners, the Cannes Film Festival and the many supporters that have been accompanying this initiative for several years, dedicated to the encounter between cinema and music.
A record in the history of the Festival
Since its creation in 2010 under the sponsorship ofEric SerraCannes Soundtrack has distinguished many major composers and artists. Previous winners include: David Letellier alias Kangding Ray for Sirat in 2025, Camille & Clément Ducol for Emilia Perez in 2024, Mica Levi for The Zone of Interest in 2023, Sparks for Annette, Rone for Olympiadsor Cliff Martinez for The Neon Demon.
With this 16th edition, Cannes Soundtrack once again confirms its unique place at the heart of the Cannes Film Festival: the prize that reminds us that music does not only accompany the images, but participates fully in their emotional power.
Now heading for 2027, with 80 years of the Cannes Film Festival and 17th edition of Cannes Soundtrack, to be held from 11 to 22 May 2027.
