Japan Night: Japanese elegance and previews
Japan Night: Japanese elegance and previews
Last night, Japan was honoured at a glittering reception, bringing together film professionals, producers and enthusiasts on the Croisette. The event, which took place from 7 pm, highlighted the vitality of Japanese cinema, with the presence of several productions selected this year at the Festival:
Renoir Chie Hayakawa, in official competition, a sensitive drama about a girl's resilience to her father's illness in Tokyo.
A Pale View of Hills Kei Ishikawa, selected from Un Certain Regard, who explores the memories of a Japanese widow between Nagasaki and England.
Exit 8 of Genki Kawamura, presented in midnight sessions, adaptation of a successful video game, where a man tries to escape an endless subway corridor.
The Japan Night has promoted networking around these works and other projects, in a refined atmosphere where Japanese gastronomy – delicate sushi, sparkling sake ( Sake Hundred ) – delighted the guests.
I had the pleasure of meeting a young French director, Victor Boccard, who is perfectly bilingual, who is fuelling the ambitious project to shoot his next film in Japan. Even though he didn't pitched officially during the evening, our exchanges revealed his passion for Japanese culture and his already rich experience in making commercial clips. Let us hope that the meetings of this Japan Night will open up new perspectives.
Atmosphere kawaii guaranteed: the photocall saw some guests having fun with accessories, creating scenes as cute as unexpected, Japanese.
Magnum beach: the last, but not the least!
The Magnum Beach remains a must of the nights of Cannois. Last night, she hosted two exclusive screenings:
– The Little Last (AD VITAM)
– The Unknown of the Great Arch (The Covenant).
The evening took on giant dancefloor looks, animated by several DJs until 2am.
Clin d'oeil du calendrier: this "little last" was not only the title of the film on the poster, but also the last big Magnum party of this 2025 edition, which once again will have been able to combine festiveness and gourmetism with brio.
Villa Montana: the chic festive by Le Baron
Villa Montana, perched at 47 chemin des Collines, was the night's lair for night birds, thanks to an evening orchestrated by the Baron's team. This confidential place, with its swimming pool and views of the bay of Cannes, offers an exclusive and refined setting, perfect for after parties until the early morning.
Space to complete: DJ names to add here. For example, recent programming has seen Honey Dijon, Rammö, Sudre & Sami Daik, Niddy pass.
A perfect setting to live the Cannoese party, where each evening has its share of surprises and meetings.
Silencio: the last night stop
After the beach, direction Le Silencio, close to the steps of the Palace. This ephemeral club, a veritable epicentre of Cannois nights, once again brought the festivalgoers together on its dancefloor, carried by eclectic and prestigious musical programming.
Special mention for the panoramic terrace, which offers stunning views of the port of Cannes: the ideal place to watch your yacht or simply marvel at the night magic of the Croisette.
And much more...
The Cannoese night never stops: plage Vega by Cartel, evenings of the Directors' Fortnight, Campari Party (always looking for contact, even in Italian!)
