On Friday 17 May, the prestigious Palace Bulles on the heights of Cannes hosted the second edition of the Bulles Pierre Cardin Prize. Organized by Rodrigo Cardin, Chairman of the Pierre Cardin Group, this event celebrated sustainable innovation in the space and maritime fields. By highlighting revolutionary start-ups, this evening reaffirmed Cardin's commitment to protecting our planet.
Innovation in honour
Under the aegis of Bertrand Piccard, founder of Solar Impulse and president of the 2024 edition, the Bulles Awards awarded three outstanding projects among a selection of eight start-ups. The evening brought together prestigious guests, including Hervé Derrey, President and CEO of Thales Alenia Space, and Olivier Poivre d'Arvor, Ambassador of France for poles and maritime issues.
The winners of the Bulles 2024 Awards are:
SEADS (Sea Defence Solutions): Prize Winner « Ocean for our planet »The company develops Blue Barriers, devices to capture plastic in rivers before it flows into the oceans. In collaboration with local communities, SEADS transforms this waste into valuable resources.
SPACEMANIC : Prize Winner « Space for our planet » for its WaterCube technology. This submarine satellite based on the Cubesat combines space and ocean technologies to offer observation equipment accessible to the deep sea and space.
CoopeMolusChomes: An NGO from Costa Rica has received an award for its efforts to preserve the mangrove ecosystem and its support for sustainable and traditional fishing communities.
Special tribute and vision for the future
The evening also paid tribute to Jacques Rougerie, oceanographer and member of the Academy of Fine Arts, for his outstanding work. Member of the jury for this edition, he will also be the president of the next edition of the Bulles Awards.
Rodrigo Cardin took the opportunity to reiterate the ecological direction of Cardin House. Since 2022, under his presidency, Pierre Cardin has strengthened his links with space and maritime innovation, symbolised by initiatives such as partnership with the European Space Agency and the creation of clothing from falling fabrics. These actions demonstrate the Group's commitment to a sustainable and forward-thinking fashion.
