The Cardin 2025 Bulles Prize celebrates three innovative initiatives for the planet at an exclusive post-Festival evening in Cannes

On Friday 20 June 2025, in the sumptuous setting of an evening organised after the Cannes Film Festival, the prestigious Bulles Cardin Award has awarded three remarkable actors committed to the protection of our planet. Chairman Rodrigo Basilicati Cardin, Chairman of the Cardin Group, this annual ceremony continues to be a strong time to enhance environmental innovations. The Cardin group is one of the first players in the fashion world to put ecology at the heart of its concerns and remains among the few to actively encourage concrete solutions through this award.

This year, the « Ocean for our planet » was assigned to start-up MÖBIUS. Developed by Whale Seeker, MÖBIUS is an artificial intelligence-assisted system designed to detect, locate and classify marine mammals from aerial images. In collaboration with Transport Canada, this system allows accelerated analysis of North Atlantic Right Whales, reducing analysis time from several weeks to just a few hours, while integrating human expertise to ensure its reliability.

A special encouragement award was awarded to Ellen Garland, a researcher recognized for her innovative work on humpback whale culture and voice transmission. His research explores how these songs spread from one population to another across the oceans, revealing complex cultural dynamics and providing an essential insight into the evolution of animal behaviour in the face of environmental change. An international research fund has been established to support its work.

Each winner received a €25,000 grant in partnership with the European Space Agency (ESA). The 2025 edition was sponsored by Jacques Rougerie, oceanographer and member of the Academy of Fine Arts, in the presence of Christophe Vassal (President of Satellite Location Collection), Alexandre Grimaldi-Coste, Georges Botella (maire de Théoule-sur-Mer), Xin Fu Rassinoux (director of the Fu Xin Gallery), Helga Piaget, Thomas de Willencourt (director of Pure Océan) and Jocelyn Meire (founder of Fask).

This post-festival evening offered a memorable closing to the 2025 Cannes Film Festival, highlighting remarkable initiatives for the preservation of our planet.
