The Thai Night at the Cannes Film Festival Saturday, May 20
This year is the great return of the Thai Night Saturday 20 May The Thai Ministry of Commerce organizes the Thai Night Cannes 2023 at the Cannes International Film Festival to celebrate the growing Thai film industry. The evening will be chaired by Her Royal Highness Princess Ubolratana Rajakanya Sirivadhana Barnavadi and will present future-oriented Thai film companies. Thai Night and the Film Market will present 10 future-oriented Thai film companies: Benetone Films, Brandthink, Film Frame Production, GDH, Halo Productions, Kantana, M Pictures, Right Beyond, Sahamongkol Film International and Yggdrazil Group. Thailand has also become a popular filming destination for international productions such as « True Love » Gareth Edwards, « Thai Cave Rescue », « The Blue », « The Sympathizer » and the next season « The White Lotus ». In 2022, according to the Thailand Film Office (TFO), the country hosted 348 film and television productions, with total production expenditures of $182 million, the highest level ever achieved. From 16 to 24 May 2023, film professionals will be able to meet Thai film companies or acquire Thai films at the DITP stand located at N.22.01, Palais -1 inside the Film Market at the Palais des Festivals. Thai Night Carlton Hotel: Thailand highlights Thai Creative talents during the 2019 Cannes Film Festival
Le Department of International Trade Promotion (DITP) du Ministère du Commerce du Gouvernement du Royaume de Thaïlande organisera la soirée gala Thai Night le samedi 18 mai 2019 au Grand Salon, InterContinental Carlton Cannes Son Altesse Royale Princesse Ubolratana Rajakanya Sirivadhana Barnavadi présidera à la soirée Thai Night : ‘Thailand – Where Films Come Alive’, qui célèbre cette année l’accomplissement des talents ‘Creative Thai’ de l’industrie cinématographique thaïlandaise avec le soutien appréciable de Son Altesse Royale. La soirée Thai Night fait partie du projet du DITP visant à soutenir et à promouvoir l’industrie cinématographique thaï à l’échelle internationale. Cette année, nous célébrons la vision ‘Creative Thai’. La Thaïlande a marqué sa première présence au Festival de Cannes en 2001 avec le film ‘Tears of the Black Tiger’, le premier film thaïlandais sélectionné pour la projection au Festival. Depuis, la Thaïlande y jouit d’une forte présence avec la projection des films par les réalisateurs thaï tels que Apichatpong Weerasethakul, Pen-ek Ratanaruang, Ekachai Uekrongtham, Aditya Assarat et Wisit Sasanatieng. Événement annuel incontournable sur la Croisette, la soirée Thai Night est connue non seulement pour sa merveilleuse hospitalité, mais aussi pour la découverte de derniers talents thaïlandais émergeant sur la scène cinématographique mondiale. Cette soirée permet aux invités de rencontrer des cinéastes et des représentants de l’industrie du film thaï : distributeurs, sociétés de service, de production et d’installation de production. D’autres soirées Thai Night sont également organisées par le DITP à chaque représentation internationale visant à soutenir et à promouvoir l’industrie cinématographique thaïlandaise. Conjointement à la soirée Thai Night, le DITP va faire installer le Pavillon thaï au Marché du Film au Palais niveau -1, au stand n° 22.01. Thai Night Cannes 2018 Gala chaired by Princess Royal of Thailand Ubolratana Rajakanya Princess Royal of Thailand Ubolratana Rajakanya Sirivadhana Barnavadi will preside over the Thai Night 2018 Gala – Thailand Where Films Come Alive, an evening celebrating Thai cinema and its industry on the occasion of the 71st edition of the Cannes International Film Festival. Organised on 12 May by the Department of International Trade Promotion (DITP) of the Ministry of Commerce of Thailand in the presence of Mrs Chutima Bunyapraphasara, the Deputy Minister of Trade of Thailand, this evening is part of a broad programme to accompany Thai industry by DITP during the Cannes Film Festival. This year, Thailand is very well represented at the Cannes Film Festival as no less than five directors participate together in the official selection with their omnibus film « Ten Years in Thailand ». The film, co-directed by Aditya Assarat, Chookiat Sakveerakul, Wisit Sasanatieng, Chulayarnnon Siriphol and Apichatpong Weerasethakul, director at Palme d'Or, is presented as an official selection outside competition. Thailand at the Film Market The Thai presence in Cannes is also marked by the organisation of professional meetings by DITP. These meetings will take place at the Film Market on the Thai Pavilion, stand n°22.01 at the -1 level of the Palais des Festivals, from May 9 to 13.
