Thai Night Cannes 2018 Gala chaired by Princess Royal of Thailand Ubolratana Rajakanya
Princess Royal of Thailand Ubolratana Rajakanya Sirivadhana Barnavadi will preside over the Thai Night Gala 2018 – Thailand Where Films Come Alive, an evening celebrating Thai cinema and its industry at the 71st edition of the Cannes International Film Festival.
Organised on 12 May by the Department of International Trade Promotion (DITP) of the Thai Ministry of Commerce in the presence of Mrs Chutima Bunyapraphasara, the Deputy Minister of Trade of Thailand, this evening is part of a broad program to accompany Thai industry by DITP during the Cannes Film Festival.
This year, Thailand is very well represented at the Cannes Film Festival as no less than five directors participate together in the official selection with their omnibus film « Ten Years in Thailand ». The film, co-directed by Aditya Assarat, Chookiat Sakveerakul, Wisit Sasanatieng, Chulayarnnon Siriphol and Apichatpong Weerasethakul, director at Palme d'Or, is presented as an official selection outside competition.
Thailand at the Film Market
The Thai presence in Cannes is also marked by the organisation of professional meetings by DITP.
These meetings will take place at the Film Market on the Thai Pavilion, stand n°22.01 at the -1 level of the Palais des Festivals, from May 9 to 13.
These meetings, intended for buyers of films as well as interested producers to shoot in Thailand, aim to develop collaborations between ten Thai film companies and professionals present at the Film Market.
