The Cannes Film Festival has chosen for the poster of its 66th edition a couple who perfectly embodies the spirit of cinema: Joanne Woodward and Paul Newman, taken in pictures on the filming of the well-named A New Kind of Love by Melville Shavelson (1963). It is an opportunity for the Festival to pay tribute to the memory of Paul Newman, who disappeared in 2008, and to make a full admiration to Joanne Woodward, his wife and his election performer. The Cannes Film Festival hosted them in 1958 – the year of their wedding – by selecting Martin Ritt's The Long Hot Summer, the first film they toured together. Their history continues to be associated with the Festival with the films directed by Paul Newman, who entrusts unforgettable roles to Joanne Woodward in The Effect of the Gamma Rays on Man-in-the-Moon Marigolds (Competition -1973) and La Ménagerie de verre (The Glass Menagerie) (Competition – 1987). Dimanche, en partenariat avec Canal+, la cérémonie de clôture du Festival sera retransmise en direct, suivie de la projection de deux films du palmarès » annoncent le Monde et Trois Couleurs. Pour les intéressés, des pass à la journée ou pour la totalité de l’opération seront mis en vente au MK2 Bibliothèque à Paris. Pour les autres, conscients de l’impact médiatique du Festival, une partie des distributeurs ont choisi de sortir leurs films dans la foulée de leur projection à Cannes. Ainsi, programmé en ouverture du festival le 16 mai prochain, « Moonrise Kingdom » de Wes Anderson avec Bruce Willis sortira le même jour dans toutes les salles de l’Hexagone. Le très attendu « Cosmopolis » de David Cronenberg avec Robert Pattinson s’affichera dès le vendredi 25 mai tandis que le dernier film de Jacques Audiard, « De rouille et d’os » avec Marion Cotillard sortira exceptionnellement le jeud 17 mai. Nicole Kidman, Matthew Mc Conaughey & Zac Efron « The Paperboy » 24 May 19:30
Cette année, le Festival de Cannes marque le grand retour de Nicole Kidman sur la Croisette. L’actrice viendra présenter son nouveau film en compétition » The Paperboy », dans lequel elle donne la réplique à Matthew McConaughey et Zac Efron. The Paperboy est développée depuis dix ans par Peter Dexter et Pedro Almodovar. Lee Daniels, réalisateur de Precious, a réalisé le film. Moment fort très attendu pour cette 65e édition ! Les deux acteurs risquent de faire monter la température sur le tapis rouge, avec Nicole Kidman qui reviendra après le mémorable Moulin Rouge ! Les deux acteurs se sont confiés il y a peu lors d’interviews et Zac Efron a lâché une vraie bombe en dévoilant qu’il y aura une scène de sexe dans le film et qu’elle est, d’après ses dires, très bonne!!
