The team of the film Àma Gloria opens a fortnight of fun on the Beach Magnum® in Cannes
Already rewarded by the Camera d'Or in 2014 for her feature film Party Girl, co-written with Claire Burger and Samuel Theis, director Maria Amachoukeli returns to Cannes with Àma Gloria, her first single film. Presented in the selection « A certain look », this touching story had the honour yesterday of opening the 62nd Festival Criticism Week. With great delicacy, the director explores the links between a young French child, Cleo, and her Cape Verdean nanny, embodied by actress Ilça Moreno. Cleo, just six years old, loves Gloria madly, who has been raising her since she was born. But the nanny must suddenly return to Cape Verde with her children. Before he left, Cleo asked him to keep a promise: to see her again as soon as possible. Ama Gloria then invites her to come to her family and to her island to spend a last summer together. A journey filled with emotion, as well as a vibrant tribute to the quest for freedom and reconnection with youth. Last night, Maria Amachoukeli and her actress Ilça Moreno chose the Magnum Beach® to release the pressure, a few hours after the presentation of their film. THE 8TH WEEK OF THE CINEMA POSITIF CANNES 2023
« INCLUSION & COMMITMENT » The 8th edition of Positive Cinema Week will take place in Cannes, under the auspices of the International Film Festival, from 24 to 27 May and will be sponsored by actor and director Éric Judor. Created in 2016 and organized by the Positive Planet group chaired by Jacques Attali, in partnership with the CNC and the City of Cannes, the Positive Cinema Week (led by Sam Bobino) takes place every year in Cannes during the Inter-National Film Festival and devotes a cinema that changes our gaze on the world, questions its industry and puts its art at the service of future generations. The aim of the Positive Cinema is to challenge the spectator, to make him react and to rage to engage and act for a better world. THE WEEK OF CINEMA POSITIF, FOR WHAT? To provide a forum for engaged and alerting cinemas. Encourage film professionals to make films that make them want to engage to improve the world for the benefit of future generations. Include the event in the DNA of the Festival of Giving access to culture for all. Offer an event around the cinema, free, popular and open to all.
