American actor Robert De Niro, also director and producer, will chair the Jury of the 64th Cannes Festival, which will take place from May 11 to 22, 2011.
In accepting the invitation, Robert de Niro said: « For me, the Cannes Festival is a rare occasion, because it is one of the oldest and best festivals in the world. »
Gilles Jacob and Thierry Frémaux, President and General Delegate of the Cannes Film Festival, said: « Robert De Niro has entered the history of the Cannes Film Festival since his first appearance, with Taxi Driver who wins the Palme d'Or. His name will remain associated with Martin Scorsese, as was Mastroianni in Fellini.
