In partnership with the French Institute, Laurent GROUPSET and Remy GRUMBACH, nephews and heirs of Jean Pierre MELVILLE who will kick off the celebration of the pre-centennial on 16 May 2016, during the « MELVILLE day » organised at the French INSTITUT Pavilion during the 69th Cannes Festival. Looking forward for the centenary #CANNES2017 (see contact)* The French Institute will honour Jean-Pierre MELVILLE from 12 to 2 p.m. in the midst of his peers and representatives of the film industry. Together with this commemoration, a panel of Melvillian directors and film industry professionals will discuss Melvillian aesthetics and Jean Pierre MELVILLE's contribution to contemporary films. In collaboration with the FRENCH INSTITUTE, Laurent GROUPSET and Remy GRUMBACH will coordinate retrospectives and Master Classes around Melvillian themes for young filmmakers under the high sponsorship of Jean-Pierre MELVILLE's ambassadors in the context of well-known festivals around the world.
