The Cannes Film Festival hopes to find an apparent normality in the 2021 edition. However, it should still live at the speed of a health crisis: it will always be necessary to wear a mask and maintain a social distancing, even though Thierry Frémaux revealed in several interviews that he dreams of « Cannes without mask ».
The Cannes Festival preferred to abandon its usual May dates and migrate to July. This 74th edition will therefore take place from Tuesday 6 to Saturday 17 July 2021.
- Thierry Frémaux and the organizers confirmed that the festival « comply fully with the Regulation » and plans to introduce strict health procedures. The measures envisaged include:
The establishment of projection stations in the city and around the Palais des Festivals. - The elimination of queues in front of the projection rooms.
- The reservation of projections in advance and the increase of outdoor activities.
