On the cruise many films attract us in addition to our activity off the evenings of the festival, nevertheless it isa Documentary « Ken-San »on the great actor of Japanese cinema «Ken Takakura» which deserves our full attention, produced byMr. Mashida, delegated producer :Lee Bong Woo, companyComplianceCo Ltd. So to discover and we hope soon on our screens in France.

This film goes to the Gray Albion 2 Theatre at 1:30pm.

"Ken-San" documentary about the great actor of Japanese cinema Ken Takakura

Originally from the Fukuoka region, he entered the world of cinema in 1955 with the second wave of young hopes of the Toei Firm. From 1964 he played in several series on the history of the knights of Japan. In 1965 he participated in the Yakuza film period of the Toei Firm and became an important star in his country.

He held, among others, the main roles of Mount Hakkoda (Shirô Moritani – 1977), Shiawase no kiiroi hankachi – The Yellow Handkerchiefs of Happiness (Yōji Yamada – 1977), Fuyu no hana – Winter Flowers (Yasuo Furuhata – 1978), Dôran – Tumulte (Shirô Moritani – 1980), Eki / Station – The Station (Yasuo Furuhata – 1981), – The Copains first (Yasuo Furuhata – 1981), Hotaru – The Way of Fireflies (Yasuo Furuhata – 2001).

He also played in several international films includingYakuza of Sydney Pollack, Black Rain of Ridley Scottbut alsoAntarctica (1983) and its popularity is as great in the United States as in Asia where it is nicknamed the « Clint Eastwood Japanese ». He received numerous awards, including the Prix d'Interprétation Masculine du Festival international de films de Montréal pour son film, Tetsudôin – Popoya (Le Cheminot) (Furuhata Yasuo – 1999).
