PRINCESS ON THE RED CARPET!
It's official. «Grace of Monaco», the film by director Olivier Dahan («The Môme») with Nicole Kidman in the title role (dubbed in French by Julie Gayet), will be screened at the next Cannes Festival, the world premiere on Wednesday, May 14.
This French film will be presented in an official selection outside competition. «Grace of Monaco» is not a biopic in the classical sense of the term. The film evokes a moment in the life of American actress Grace Kelly – incarnated by Nicole Kidman – who became Grace of Monaco when she married Prince Rainier III (interpreted by Tim Roth) in 1956, which was called a marriage of the century.
She was then a huge film star, turning with the greatest, adulled all over the world and crowned with an Oscar. Six years later, while he was sometimes difficult to take up his position, Hitchcock proposed that he return to Hollywood to play in his new film, «No spring for Marnie». She hesitates, ends up saying no and it is American Tippi Hedren (the mother of Melanie Griffith) who plays the character. At the same time, France is threatening to tax or even annex Monaco, a small country of which it has become the monarch. Is she still an actress? Is she really the Princess of Monaco?...
«Grace of Monaco», produced by Pierre-Ange Le Pogam (Stone Angels) for a budget of 25 million dollars, distributed by Gaumont in France, was shot for 16 weeks, notably in Monaco, in the south of France, as well as in Paris, Vintimille and Brussels.
