Cannes Star Wars, Mark Hamill to close critical week

Mark Hamill, known worldwide to embody Luke Skywalker in the saga Star Wars, will have the honor to close the 56th edition of Criticism Week, designed to reward young talents.

The iconic Star Wars actor will be present on the Cannes steps. He will be at the side of Claire Danes for the film « Brigsby Bear« , but not only. Mark Hamill will also have the honour of closing the Critical Week competition. The purpose of this event is to crown the new talents, authors of a first or second feature film. This year, France and l‘Latin America present four and three films respectively, and Italy, Japan, Iran and United States are also competing.

The emblematic actor of the saga Star Wars will be on the poster of Brigsby Bear alongside Claire Danes to close this competition dedicated to new talents

56th Criticism Week in Cannes

Parallel section of the 70th Cannes Festival, which will take place from 17 to 28 May, the Week of Criticism is dedicated to the discovery of new talents. Created in 1962, it presents only first or second feature films. Of the 1,250 feature films screened this year, eleven were selected, seven of which were in competition, selected by a jury chaired by the Brazilian director Kleber Mendonça Filho.
