American director Steven Spielberg will be president of the 2013 Cannes Film Festival jury. With the announcement of this prestigious collaboration, the Cannois rendezvous confirms his love for the great figures of American cinema. The future president of the jury is not familiar with the Palais des Festivals in Cannes. Steven Spielberg has seen only one of his films compete in the official competition since his debut as a director. At the age of 28, the young American had been awarded the Prize for the scenario for Sugarland Express in 1974, certainly not the best known of his feature films. So that was almost 40 years ago. This closing evening was also noted in 1982, when E.T., presented out of competition, had moved the entire Festival Palace.
