Official poster of the 66th Festival
The Cannes Film Festival has chosen for the poster of its 66th edition a couple who perfectly embodies the spirit of cinema: Joanne Woodward and Paul Newman, taken in pictures on the filming of the well-named A New Kind of Love by Melville Shavelson (1963). It is an opportunity for the Festival to pay tribute to the memory of Paul Newman, who disappeared in 2008, and to make a full admiration to Joanne Woodward, his wife and his election performer. The Cannes Film Festival hosted them in 1958 – the year of their wedding – by selecting Martin Ritt's The Long Hot Summer, the first film they toured together. Their history continues to be associated with the Festival with the films directed by Paul Newman, who entrusts unforgettable roles to Joanne Woodward in The Effect of the Gamma Rays on Man-in-the-Moon Marigolds (Competition -1973) and La Ménagerie de verre (The Glass Menagerie) (Competition – 1987). Festival poster 2013 The filming photo was isolated and then reworked and staged by the Bronx agency, which integrated it into a kinetic decor, playing on the impression of movement and depth to strengthen the cinematic effect. The poster gives a bright and tender image of the modern couple, encircled in a perfect balance figure in what evokes the whirlwind of love. Spielberg President of the Cannes Film Festival 2013
Le réalisateur américain Steven Spielberg sera le président du jury du Festival de Cannes 2013. Avec l’annonce de cette prestigieuse collaboration, le rendez-vous cannois confirme son amour pour les grandes figures du cinéma américain . Le futur président du jury ne connaît pas très bien le Palais des festivals, à Cannes. Steven Spielberg n’a vu qu’un seul de ses films concourir dans la compétition officielle depuis ses débuts en tant que réalisateur. Agé de 28 ans, le jeune Américain s’était vu attribuer le Prix du scénario pour Sugarland Express en 1974, certainement pas le plus connu de ses longs-métrages. C’était donc il y a bientôt 40 ans. On notera également cette soirée de clôture en 1982, quand E.T., présenté hors compétition, avait ému tout le Palais des festivals. Partage d'article
