The actors Bel Powley (The Diary of a Teenage Girl, The Morning Show...) and Joe Cole (Peaky Blinders, Black Mirror, Gangs of London) were at CANNESERIES Season 6 to present A Light of Hope (A Small Light in VO), a series created by Tony Phelan & Joan Rater, which traces the story behind the Gies family, intimately linked to the Frank family during the Second World War.
Based on a true story, A glimmer of hope tells the story of Miep Gies, the secretary of Otto Frank, about twenty years old, who hid him and his family for two years during the Second World War. But Miep didn't just hide the Franks. With the help of the Dutch resistance, Miep and her husband, Jan, protected countless other Nazis. They could not refuse their help to anyone, even if it meant that they had to keep their lives secret, sometimes even one to another. You may know the story of Anne Frank and his life in the annex, but this is what happened on the other side of the library. It is the story of an ordinary secretary who managed to do extraordinary things during one of the darkest moments in our history.
