CANNES 22 MAY 2014 – Leonardo DiCaprio wanted to be discreet by avoiding passing on the red carpet of the gala of the AmfAR at the time of the Cannes Film Festival, at Eden Roc in Cap d'Antibes on 22 May, but he did mark this 21st edition! In total, the US AIDS Foundation of AmfAR reached a new record of donations, with $38 million (over €27.8 million) raised. In 2013, the amfAR raised some EUR 19.3 million (US$ 25 million) during the same evening.
Sharon Stone, Carla Bruni-Sarkozy and John Travolta will be the main co-chairs of the 21st gala of the AmfAR, the American foundation against AIDS created by Liz Taylor, which will take place on 22 May at the Cannes Festival (14-25 May).
Each year, the amfAR gala brings together many personalities and benefactors. Last year, for AIDS research and assistance to patients worldwide, a new record of donations had been recorded, with 19.3 million euros (25 million USD) collected for dinner and auctions on exceptional lots.
Actresses Milla Jovovich and Kelly Preston, models Heidi Klum and Aiswarya Rai, car champion Lewis Hamilton and Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein are also announced.
The musical poster of the gala, which will take place at Eden Roc, the famous palace of Cape Antibes, will feature Lana Del Rey, Robin Thicke and Aloe Blacc.
