The President is Chinese, so much the better we love Chinese rice! Wong Kar Wai has accepted the chairmanship of the jury of the 59th Cannes Festival, which will take place from 17 to 28 May. He will be the first Chinese president in the history of the Cannes Film Festival. Revealed in Cannes in 1989 with As Tears Go By, he presented Happy Together in 1997 in the official selection, which will be rewarded with the Award of Directing. In 2000, In the Mood for Love, selected in Cannes in competition, was crowned with a public and global critical success. Wong Kar Wai returned in 2004 to the official selection with 2046, qualified by the critic « sublime exploration of interior time ».
