In 1919, Dörte Helm joins Walter Gropius at the newly-founded Bauhaus. As she becomes a student and part of the movement that challenges not only artistic conceptions, but societal structures as well, she and Walter fall in love while fighting for the school that is threatened to be dissolved by conservative forces.
